THE MISSION

Diplomatic Mission

South Sudan established diplomatic relations with the United States of America in 2012.

Mission Statement

The Embassy of South Sudan in the United States is committed to advancing the interests of the Republic of South Sudan by fostering strong diplomatic relations and promoting cooperation between our nations. Our mission encompasses the following key objectives:

1: Articulating Foreign Policy Objectives

We serve as a conduit for conveying South Sudan’s foreign policy goals to the U.S. government, American citizens, and other accredited diplomatic missions and organizations. Additionally, we represent South Sudan’s strategic interests in the USA and other countries within our accreditation region.

2: Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

We work closely with the U.S. government and its people to enhance cooperation across all fields, particularly in political and diplomatic arenas. Our efforts aim to secure U.S. foreign aid, encourage trade and investment, foster people-to-people collaboration, and facilitate communication and project implementation between South Sudan and the USA.

3: Promoting Developmental Projects

We actively encourage private and public sector institutions in the USA to invest in major developmental projects within South Sudan. Our focus lies on securing funding for socio-economic initiatives, supporting small businesses, and promoting tourism.

4: Engaging the Diaspora

With a diaspora estimated at over 80,000 individuals in the USA and Canada, we strive to promote community cohesion, encourage skilled labor to return, and facilitate diaspora investment in South Sudan’s economy. Additionally, we collaborate with civil society organizations and NGOs operating in South Sudan to support socio-economic development.
